And I'd give forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow

[Heero sits besides a gravesite, staring at it trancelike. This wasn't supposed to happen, he was the one who would die in this war, not the only person that brought light and laughter to his life. Tears slowly begin to slip from his eyes, the final physical proof of his grief]

You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now

[The other three pilots stand a short distance from Heero, each dealing with their own grief. One by one, they leave reluctantly until only Heero is left at the gravesite. 'Why did you leave me?' Heero shouts at the unresponsive gravestone. 'Why did you die?']

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life

[Duo wraps his arms around Heero and grins manically. Heero scowls at the braided pilot, but, inside, he is basking in his presence.]

And sooner or later it's over
I just don't wanna miss you tonight

[Heero holds a sleeping Duo in his arms. A slight smile is on his face as he watches his lover's peaceful face. 'Ai shiteru, Duo' he whispers]

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand

[Duo sees Heero walking towards him. His face brightens and he throws himself at the disgruntled Japanese boy. Heero pushes Duo away, but gives his hand a quick squeeze to make up for his callousness.]

When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

[Later, Heero tries to explain to Duo why he pushed the American away. At first, the pilot of Deathscythe doesn't want to listen, but eventually, he comes to understand what Heero is telling him. With a soft smile, Duo puts his arms around his lover and whispers his forgiveness.]

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies

[Heero stares out the window after another near miss. He and Duo nearly died again today, instead, more innocents died in their places. His shoulders heave in heart-rending sobs, but there are no tears. He has forgotten how to cry long ago.]

When everything feels like the movies
And you bleed just to know you're alive

[Duo walks into the safe house after a solo mission. Heero is sitting at the computer typing away. But not for long. The beautiful American jumps onto Heero and makes his needs known. Despite his untended wounds, they make love desperately. Trying to reaffirm their lives and their love.]

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand

[Heero waits until the others leave to come to Duo's bedside. The last mission has gone horribly and fatally wrong. Duo lies near death, barely hanging on. 'Duo, please don't leave me.' Heero begs. 'Please, I don't think I can live without you. Ai shiteru, Duo.' Duo opens his eyes and smiles gently at the grieving pilot. 'I love you too, Heero. Don't worry, I'll be waiting for you. I'll wait forever if I have to. We will be together again.' Duo's eyes slip shut and he lets out one last breath, a gentle smile still gracing his lifeless lips.]

When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

[Heero's tears fall on the newly disturbed earth of Duo's grave. 'What does my life mean without you, Duo?' he whispers brokenly.]

When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

['Ai shiteru, Duo. Wait for me. I'll be with you again one day.']
