My Oh My
by Willow
------------------

My oh my do you wanna say goodbye?
To have the Kingdom, baby, tell me why
My oh my do you wanna say goodbye?
To rule the country, baby, you and I?
If you were my King...

Once upon a time there was a young princess who lived in a beautiful white castle on the hill overlooking her kingdom. She was a sweet and generous person and loved all those around her....

For all her goodness and light, the princess still, at the old age of seventeen, had not found a prince to rule with her.

One day while walking in the palace gardens, Princess Relena, for that was her name, ran into a dark haired, blue eyed young man (who was rushing around the corner) and she fell instantly in love with him.

'Oh, he will be my sweet prince and when we're married, my King!' she planned to herself as the young man appoligized profusely for his haste and inattentiveness. He bowed to her once more before running off.

Gazing off after the dashing young man, Princess Relena didn't notice, in her gushing, the young courtier around the corner... the one whom the speedy young man had been with only moments before.

My oh my do you wanna say goodbye?
To have the Kingdom, baby, tell me why
My oh my do you wanna say goodbye?
To rule the country, baby, you and I?

"Princess Relena?" came the small voice of the courtier. The princess instantly snapped out of her trance-like state and turned to the addressee.

"Yes?" she asked sweetly, looking the person over. The courtier had long, knee-length, chestnut hair bound in a semi-loose braid and the most entrancing and exquisite violet eyes. Princess Relena could not, for the life of her, discern whether the courtier was a male of a female, as said person wore garments that were suited to either gender. She decided, since the person was speaking (and what a sweet voice rose from that fair throat!) that she should pay attention.

"... just wondering if you were alright," the courtier was saying. "You looked to be a bit out of it, Your Majesty."

"I'm fine, thank you for your concern, though," she replied, smiling sweetly. The courtier smiled back, a pleasant and comforting expression, and made a small bow before continuing on.

Princess Relena watched the courtier go before turning to gaze off in the direction the young 'prince' had taken. 'If I only knew who he was!'

Little princess in a terrible mess,
a kingdom alone, with no love to confess
Dreams of a prince on a tall white horse,
runs like a spirit by the castle walls.

That afternoon, Princess Relena's 'pre-ball nap' was filled with dreams of the young man; fighting, jousting, rescuing damsels, anything heroic drifted through her unconscious mind. When she was roused from her slumber, the princess was loath to waken, but her duties called and, as princess, she must answer.

On her throne set atop the slightly raised platform, Princess Relena could view the entire ballroom and its occupants. She adored these 'parties,' the beautifully dressed women and the tastefully adorned men. She smiled endearingly as she was presented with the guest manifest. Countesses, Barons, Comptesses, and Lords... every type of title and an endless variaty of lovely people presented themselves before the heiress to the throne. They smiled and bowed and courtsied before moving on to allow the next in line to be presented.

".... Compte Maxwell of Auvergne and his family."

Princess Relena watched as three people presented themselves before the throne, bowing to her. She started as she recognized the child, it was the courtier from earlier in the day, the one who'd been in the garden. Now the young man, she was now certain, was dressed in the finest violet colored velvet breeches and vest with silver buckled boots and a gem encrusted sword at his hip. He was exquisite and she found herself envying him his stunning beauty.

She reminded herself to smile as the family moved on the the side of the room.

"Prince Yuy of Aegea."

The princess' eyes nearly popped from their sockets as she laid them upon the man who haunted her dreams. There before her stood the young man from earlier, the one whom she'd run into and fallen in love with. She nearly melted as he smiled at her. She feasted upon his smile, completely ignoring the fact that his face shown no emotion but polite indifference. She found herself fighting to keep from raising her hand for him to kiss, but decided that since she was to be Queen and that she wanted him for her King that it did not matter.

She was elated when he took the profered hand and lent to place a small, chaste kiss on top. "Good sir," she said sweetly.

"Your Highness," he said clippedly, though of this she took no notice.

He was wearing a suit of deep blue velvet adorned with tastefully placed dimonds and silver. As with the Maxwell heir, he wore a jewel encrusted sword at his hip. What she did not notice was that on the third finger of his left hand he wore a simple silver band with a single tiny amethyst flanked by two equally teeny dimonds. An engagement ring.

Gotta steal from the rich, when they don't know I'm coming,
gotta give to the poor, no time for lovin'
My oh my don't you cry, 'cause there is no way I'm staying,
I will leave say «bye bye», I'm going my way...

Princess Relena was having a wonderful evening. First she'd found her prince. And now she'd gotten him to dance with her.

She'd found him talking with the Maxwell boy over by the punch bowl and insisted that he give her at least one dance. He'd accepted, of course. She was the queen-to-be after all.

As the evening grew to a close, she found that she must release young man that he may go on his way. This she was very loath to do and said as much.

"Prince Yuy--"

"Heero, if you will," Heero said. She adored his slightly nasal voice, it rumbled pleasingly, almost sensually.

"Heero," she smiled. "I know the night is nearly over and soon you'll have to be on your way, but could I coax you into remaining this night in the castle?"

Heero gave her a look, appraising, then looked over her shoulder. He sighed and looked at her face before shaking his head. "I'm afraid I cannot, Your Highness...." and without elaborating he walked off and out of the Palais Royal.

Relena was upset to put it lightly. He hadn't even given her a reason. She 'hrmped' her irritation, vowing to find him again and make him hers, at all costs.

My oh my do you wanna say goodbye?
To have the Kingdom, baby, tell me why
My oh my do you wanna say goodbye?
To rule the country, baby, you and I?
If you were my King...
I would be your Queen....
If you were my King...
I would be your Queen....

All night, Princess Relena tossed and turned in her sleep. Her mind was spinning ideas and plans, filling her dreams with visions of the bold young Prince Heero.

~*~dream~*~

The sun shown brightly and the birds sang in the blue sky. For Princess Relena this was a special day, her wedding to the Prince Heero Yuy!

She was standing in front of the altar and they were speaking their vows.

"Do you, Prince Heero of Aegea, take the Princess Relena of Cinq to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love and to hold till death do you part?" the priest said.

Relena beamed as her love began to answer.... "I...." she waited, her smile broad and shining. "... cannot." And before she knew it, he was off and gone.

~*~end dream~*~

Mystery deep in the royal heart
Crying at night, I wanna be apart
Prince, oh, prince are you really sincere?
That you one day are gonna disappear?

Princess Relena woke with tears pouring down her pale cheeks. 'What a terrible nightmare!' she thought as she slipped out of her large bed. She padded over to her large window that overlooked the Queen's Garden. She smiled as she saw the figure of Prince Heero slipping amongst the rose bushes before disappearing off around the corner.

She turned back to her dressing table and prepared for the day. "Lord, let me win his heart...." she whispered, her hands clasped near her heart. "Why does he avoid me?"

Heero raced around the corner as quickly as possible. He had to make it up to Duo for spending all that time with the princess. He knew Duo understood, but still....

"Duo!" Heero called, smiling as he saw the boy. He stopped in front of his love and brought his hand from behind his back, presenting the young man with a red rosebud. He was rewarded with the boy's brilliant smile and a bundle of energy latching onto him. "I'll take it I'm forgiven?"

He felt the boy nod into his shoulder. "Of course! Oh, gods, I'm so happy to see you, Heero!"

Heero held Duo at arm's length. "Why? Is something wrong?"

Duo shook his head, the smile gone from his face. "Not really. It's just that the princess has her eyes on you...."

Heero chuckled. "I know...." he sobered and looked deep into violet eyes. "No fear, she'll never get me..."

Duo nodded, but the smile did not reappear. "I know.... but she's the ruler, she could prevent us--"

Heero put his finger to Duo's lips, silencing him. "I won't let her... She's only ruler here.... If anything happens... should she try and seperate us, I'll abscond us off to my country...."

Duo smiled wanly and hugged tight to Heero. "I love you...."

Heero reached down and lifted Duo's chin, smiling softly. "I love you, too..." Heero said, kissing the boy sweetly.

-----

My oh my.
My oh my.
My oh my.
My oh my!

Relena could not believe what her eyes beheld. Her prince kissing that Maxwell boy! Her prince! Kissing a BOY! Her mind refused to register that it was he, Heero, who'd initiate the kiss, instead locking her furious gaze on the shorter man.

"Enough!" she said in her most regal voice. The two broke the kiss and she watched in triumph as the braided boy's eyes widened before rolling back up into his head as he collapsed into Heero's arms. She stalked over to where Heero now held the unconscious boy. "What is the meaning of this, my prince!?"

Heero looked up from the boy in his arms to glare at the princess. "For one thing, I'm not /your/ prince. And second, it's none of your damned business!" he snarled.

Princess Relena was taken aback. No one had ever talked to her in such a tone of voice. She was the heir to Cinq's throne! She was to be Queen! And he was to be her King! That was firmly fixed in her mind. Heero Yuy was to be King of Cinq at her side! Hers! Not that little faery's! Hers!

"Get away from him this instant and I'll forget this ever happened," she told him calmly.

Her anger flared as Heero hefted the body into his arms and stood. "Get out of my way," he sneered. She just stood there. "Move now, or I'll kill you." He looked at her his eyes narrowing. "You're not the only royalty here, princess. Move now."

Relena gulped and stepped out his way. She watched as he stalked off carring the boy. Then she watched as they rode off on a white horse, back to Heero's kingdom, she presumed.

"My prince....." she whispered as they rode out of sight.

"... And Heero and Duo lived happily ever after, never to be bothered by Princess Relena again.... While they lived and loved together in Heero's Aegea, Relena finally found herself a nice compliant prince who'd lost his first wife due to a terrible illness and they too lived happily ever after.... The End," Shi-chan said as she tucked the chibis into their beds. "Sweet dreams, mes chers...."

Notes:
Some of the titles of the nobles were French, they are what they look/sound like.... Comptess = Countess, Compte = Count....

Also, I'm doing some more songs from this CD.... a nice lemon to 'Candyman' ::giggles:: and using 'Happy Boys and Girls' in a fic.... (I've had this CD for years and just dredged it back up for kicks...)
