Dream A Little Dream
by Willow

It was Oldies night at Stella's bar and Mitchelle was enjoying the acts. Most were off key, but some, like the one that had just gotten up, were rather impressive. She turned and jabbed her bar-mate in the ribs. The blue-eyed man jumped and glared at her. "Check this one out," she told him, smiling.

On stage was a young... Quite frankly, Mitchy couldn't tell if it was a guy or a girl. It had a long braid of golden-brown hair and large deep-blue, almost violet, eyes. The face was pointed and feminine, a lovely heart shape. She looked up and down the performer's body, trying to get some idea of what gender it be. The person wore a sexy outfit suited to either sex. The black jeans clung to the muscled thighs and the skin-tight crop-top did little to reveal the gender (some women, including Mitchelle herself, had little in the way of endowments). She continued watching and was rewarded as the person turned, revealing a slight buldge of the pants that was unmistakenly masculine.

She smiled, turning once again to her bar-mate. "I wonder if he sings as good as he looks," Mitchy told the man.

"We'll see," he grunted, lifting a hand to indicate the boy's taking of stage.

The lights dimmed and the music began. Mitchy almost laughed as they played out the part from the original recording adding the boy's name into where they would've said "Mama Cass."

"And now to sing this lovely ballad, here is Duo Maxwell...."

"Stars shining bright above you," Duo sang, his tenor fitting perfectly into the melody. He looked around him at his audience, his eyes locking on the bar. Mitchelle looked over her shoulder to find the man next to her rivited to the boy. She shook her head as she noticed that their gazes were locked to one another's.

"Night breezes seem to whisper I love you."

Mitchy watched happily as the performer serenaded her partner. The boy, Duo, was playing it up, slowly dancing and gesturing along with the song.

"Birds singing in the sycamore tree,
Dream a little dream of me."

The blue-violet eyes fluttered briefly as the boy lilted out the tune. His entire body was singing the song, swaying and dipping ever-so-slowly and sensually.

"Say nighty-night and kiss me."

Slowly, he drifted down off the stage, running a hand along sitting men's forearms, playing up to them then walking away. Mitchy watched the Jessica Rabbit impression with open amusement.

She watched as the boy trapsed up to the bar and leaned close to her bar-mate.

"Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me,
While I'm alone and blue as can be,
Dream a little dream of me,"
Duo sang sultrily.

Mitchy nearly cheered as Heero, her bar-mate, began leaning forward. She nearly pouted as the song caught up with them and Duo continued on singing.

"Stars fading but I linger on, dear
Still craving your kiss."

The violet eyes looked a bit sad and longing as the boy looked at Heero. He was moving back toward the stage, his hips swaying and Mitchy just knew, without looking, that Heero was drooling. The boy had him hook, line, and sinker.

"I'm longing to linger 'til dawn, dear."

He paused, turning to lock his eyes on Heero once again.

"Just saying this,
Sweet dreams 'til sunbeams find you."

The violet eyes closed momentarily as Duo stepped back on stage. A sweet, if sad, smile graced the glossed lips.

"Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you,
But in your dreams whatever they be,
Dream a little dream of me."

Mitchy turned her attention to the display of lust beside her. She was tempted to put a finger under the hanging jaw and lift it up. Instead she lent over and whispered in the man's ear. "You're getting drool on the counter."

That got his attention. Instantly he was aware of his surroundings and madly began wiping at the counter top. Mitchy chuckled. "You know," she mused aloud. "You should go up there to him..."

"I can't do that...."

"He wants you," she told him. "At least dance with him... Hell, this bar's turned into Moulin Rouge... Go! Get! I'll mind the bar."

Heero looked at her, as if questioning her competency. Mitchy scowled at him. "Do it, or I will... but it's not me he wants..."

Heero cast her one more glance before vaulting over the bar. He was just in time for the next verse.

"Stars fading but I linger on, dear,
Still craving your kiss."

Heero slowly walked up to the stage, making sure he had Duo's full attention. The boy began grinning madly as he sang, his eyes pinned on Heero as he sauntered up onto the stage.

"I'm longing to linger 'til dawn, dear," Duo sang sweetly -- wide, innocent eyes pinned on the approaching man.

"Just saying this." Heero smirked as Duo variated the chords in perfect immitation of the 20th century singer.

"Sweet dreams 'til sunbeams find you, Sweet dreams that leave all worries far behind you, But in your dreams whatever they be, Dream a little dream of me."

As the end notes drifted up into the rafters of the bar, Heero lifted the boy off the stage and carried him out the door.

Mitchy watched them leave, wishing them the best of luck. Distantly she wondered if she'd have to get another bar-mate.

Yes, I am planning on a sequel... a lemon.... ^_^ So dun worry. Anyone guess where I got Mitchelle? If you know and can tell me, I'll give you a cookie (and the next story... the lemon). "John and Mitchy were getting kinda itchy just to leave the folk music behind... Zal and Denny working for a penny, tryin to keep a fish on the line...." ::giggles:: "In a coffee house Sabastian sat, and after every number they passed the hat..." ::stops singing:: Gomen... ^_^;
