Sabaku no Namida: Part 5

/Oi, Dorothy!/ Duo caroled mentally, while sitting comfortably in his cabin. /Can you come here, please?/

He could hear her gulp from her own cabin. /Aye, sir,/ her mental voice called back. He could sense the underlying fear, heavily masked, even though her voice was steady He was Duo, the fearless captain of The Crucifix, he knew what masked and guarded fear tasted like.

As Dorothy was about to knock on the door when Duo yanked it open. "Come in," he smiled.

"Aye, sir." Duo could feel her radiating nervousness as she passed him into his cabin.

"Sit down," he gestured to his chair as he closed the door behind her.

"Aye, sir," she repeated and did as she was instructed.

"How long did you think it would take me to find out?" he whispered in her ear, getting directly to the point.

/Don't think about anything....Keep a blank mind..../ she clenched her eyes shut as a shiver ran up her spine.

"Oi, Dorothy, it's too late to hide it from me now."

"What 'it' are you talking about, sir?" she asked timidly.

"Both 'it's: Treize and the Untalented One."

"Oh..." Dorothy tensed even more.

"Yes, 'oh'."

/He's going to KILL me!/ the blonde panicked.

"Calm down, Dorothy. I'm not going to kill you." Dorothy relaxed a bit. "I am however, going to put you in charge of the Untalented One and liable for her entirely."

"I understand, sir." Dorothy suddenly found an interest in a knot in the wooden floor.

"As for having us leave before the storm," he sighed. "That was not entirely you at fault. I'm well aware of that, therefore there will be no punishment."

"Sir?" Dorothy's head jerked up. Her captain had a broad smirk spreading from ear to ear. That was either a good thing or a bad thing, she was not quite sure.

"You are dismissed. Oh and get them both some clothing."

"Ano, thank you, sir," she edged toward the door. "Is there anything else you wish?"

"Not at the moment," his smile grew larger.

"Ano, ok, sir." She sprinted out the door.

"Strange girl," Duo mused.

/She was just nervous,/ Heero answered, emerging from the shadows. /I'm sure that you figured that out./

"Aa. She has it."

"Hee-chan," he sighed, "That's up to you to figure out."

/I don't like you,/ Heero glared.

"Oh, Hee-chan," Duo purred, approaching him predatorily, "I'm so happy you feel that way."

Heero held up a hand to stop him. /Not until I get my bath!/

"You're not any fun," he pouted.

/Go introduce the new crew,/ Heero glared continuously.

"Now, just whom is the captain, here?" Duo quirked an eyebrow.

/Just go./ Heero's eyebrow ticked.

"Yeah, yeah. I shall exact my revenge, never fear," Duo waved himself out the door.

/I look forward to it,/ he smirked mentally.

/I heard that!/

Duo found Sally leaning over the railing, staring blankly at the passing coast.

"Why did you choose me?" She asked before he entered her field of vision.

"You know who I am?" He countered softly.

"Please don't answer my question with another."

"I chose you not because of what you have done, but because of what you are capable of doing," Duo leaned against the railing. "I answered you, now you answer me."

"A young captain, as beautiful as he is deadly, violet eyes, long chestnut braid, hearing strange voices, knowing your past, present and future." She still did not look out him.

"I'll take that as a yes," he grinned.

She nodded sadly, "That was why I asked you 'why me'."

"We are stopping at another port shortly, so you can rid yourself of the mud that mats your hair and your past that mats you spirit along with it."

"Thank you," she whispered.

"Anytime," he pushed off the railing and went off to find the other two new ones.

Wufei was rummaging through his trunk. "Kore," he handed Quatre a pair of pants. "They might be too short for him, but the should suffice until we dock again in St. Augustin." After digging around some more, Wufei produced a pair of boots and also handed them to Quatre.

The blonde relayed them to the emerald-eyed boy. He just stood there, staring at the bundle in his hands as if it might strike him.

"Go ahead and try them on," Quatre urged, all smiles.

Tentatively, he pulled on the pants and then the boots.

"Would you like some tea?" the blonde asked.

"Quatre," Wufei chided, "We don't have any tea to offer."

"Oh...then would you like some rum? I think we have some of that." Quatre poked around in the cabinets of Wufei's room. "Ah! Here it is!" He handed a fogged glass bottle to the boy, who placed it down in a subtle refusal.

"Do you have a name?"

"I am a slave, I have no name," the boy made study of the floor.

"Shall we call you 'Nanashi,' then?" Wufei rose an eyebrow.

He looked up, eyes full of fear. "Anything but that," he whispered.

"How do you like the name Trowa?" Quatre asked sympathetically.

/Where did that name come from?/

"I would like that very much, sir," he continued to stare at the floor.

"You're not just saying that because you think that you have to agree with us, are you?" Wufei prompted.

"Yes, sir."

Wufei sighed heavily.

"Aa, so this is the one that feels no pain," Duo whistled.

"Aa, sir," Wufei nodded.

"Come here," Duo motioned to the boy, "'Trowa' they have named you?"

Hearing the respect in his master's voice, the newly named boy approached Duo, nodding slightly.

"Yes," the captain said pensively when Trowa was three feet away.

Quatre and Wufei stood aside as Duo analyzed Trowa, never speaking a word aloud, but they could both sense the fear emanating from both men, though neither showing any outward sign.

"As I thought," Duo finally stated out loud, "Here you have no master, though you take orders from either Wufei or myself" - he gestured at Wufei - "You are free to do your will, but there are rules and limits, don't break them."

Trowa nodded solemnly.

/Duo! A little help, please. I have a leech./

Duo almost laughed outright at the dryness in Heero's tone.

"I leave you with them." And he was gone.

As Heero had explained, he did have a leech and a half-naked one at that.

"Ahem," Duo coughed slightly.

The leech turned to look at him, immediately releasing her prey.

"Where is your owner?" he boomed.

Duo unsheathed his sword. "You should learn a lesson quickly."

She drew back a step.

"There are few things on my ship that are not communal. He is one of them.

"Heero's mine."

With those two words, Duo slashed a cross on her chest, one line above her breasts and one in between, down to her navel.

"Go back to your mistress, ojosan," he growled.

/That was a tad obsessive.../

Duo swiped the blood off his sword onto his dark pants. It was not healthy for the pants, but it was even worse if he let the blood dry on the sword itself.

"She needed to get it in her mind before she gets used to the ides that she can do anything more...extreme."

/I guess...It was disturbing./

"I don't let problems mushroom, destroy them at the root. Though it was kind of funny to see that look on her face." /Oi! Dorothy! There are bandages below deck!/

/Yeah, yeah. I still want a bath./

"There's more to life than - "

/No sex until my bath!/

"Oi! Is that any way to treat your savior?"

Heero stuck out his tongue.

"Don't tempt me."

A shrill scream cut through the waves lapping at the sides of the ship.

/Dorothy found her present./

"You really need to work on that dry tone."

/The question is not my tone, but how long can you last without sex?/

"I will make sure that you die a slow and excruciatingly painful death."

/What type of death?/ Heero taunted before bolting.

His captain and lover bolted after him.

Trowa was modeled after Farfie from Weiß, except for the Trowa personality and both of them are my favorites! Yeah, that was pointless.

Yeah, that's part 5. Part 6 is a 2x1 lemon! ^.~ Yum! Ok, Amp? So much to look forward to, ne?
