Howard held onto Duo's hand tightly, thinking that the boy was going to faint right there. Duo's mouth trembled slightly as if he was trying to form words. The poor boy looked awfully pale.

"G-Grandson?" Duo murmured.

Howard nodded, happily showing off his smile. Duo looked over at Heero who nodded as well.

"The staff here is surprised." Heero told him, "This is the first time that this sort of thing ever happened to them. They'll never forget this event."

"What's the first time…"

"That two people discover each other under such circumstances." Sally said. "I'm not sure if this kind of thing happened in the past, but it's the first here."

"Wow. This is…" Duo looked up at Howard, still in slight shock.

"I know," Howard sighed, "It's weird, isn't it?"

"But I thought that I had no one else…I thought all my relatives were dead."

"Hey, how do you think I feel? My children never even told me that I was a grandfather."

Duo gasped. Howard was sure that he heard Sally Po gasp lightly too. Heero just looked speechless. He was sure that this was something that he was never prepared for. But if Howard's inner feeling was correct, he was sure that Heero wanted to comfort him somehow but wasn't sure how to go about it.

"So, does this mean that I get to find out who my parents were?" Duo was almost sitting straight up, if it wasn't for the pain. Howard nodded slightly, but then paused.

"Well, you DO have my daughter's mouth…but I'm not sure where you got your hair color and eyes from. Of course, you could be my son's boy…and you could possess your mother's looks or something…" Howard tilted his head, placing his thumb and forefinger under his chin like he was thinking, "You could still have some of the traits of my daughter and still be my son's kid…but I'm not sure…your stubbornness fits my son to a tee."

"Ok, ok, enough with the guessing games! What were their names?"

"Uh, my eldest child is my daughter Kalli, which means Energy, or black goddess."

Duo blinked, "Black goddess?" he laughed nervously, "Well that makes sense."

"And my son's name is Maynard." Howard smiled, "It means powerful and brave."

"I like that." Duo admitted. "But you know that it's gonna be hard for me to remember to call you Grandpa."

"True." Howard agreed, "You know, you've always been like a son to me. I think this is better. I just can't believe I haven't noticed the similarities before, even though they're slight."

Duo grinned, "You know what? I just realized something."

"What's that?"

"You're a cool Grandfather!"

Howard grinned from ear to ear. "Thanks Duo."

"Please, Heero. Let me look at that knee." Sally pleaded. Heero looked worse and worse every time he walked.

"I told you before, Sally," Heero grumbled, "I can take care of myself!"

Sally sighed, "I understand that you've put your own broken bones together, but this is different. If it's what I think it is, you might have to undergo surgery if you don't have it taken care of soon. If you are dealing with an overuse injury and have pain from inflammation of the Soft Tissue Sleeve structures around your knee, you can expect that it will take between 6 and 8 weeks to resolve your knee pain problem."

"I know that already, Sally." Heero limped over to get a drink from the water fountain.

"It looks like it's getting worse to me, Heero. I should know. I AM a doctor after all."

"Heero," Quatre looked as worried, if not more, than Sally, "Please have her look at your knee, just to see how far it's going. You shouldn't be so stubborn about this kind of thing."

Heero turned his head abruptly, "Quatre…"

"And," Sally continued, "If you need some treatment, you're gonna have to stop doing missions all together. Without sticking to a program, there is no way to predict how long it will take your knee pain symptoms to disappear. Even with a faithful program it will take several weeks before your symptoms improve so don't expect that you will be healed in a matter of four or five days."

"Sally's right, Heero. We need our best fighter in top condition. What would Duo say if he found out that you weren't taking care of yourself?"

"What do I care what Duo thinks?" Heero sneered. He tried to hide the limp as he walked back to his chair.

"I think you do care. I mean, you were so willing to forget your own injuries for the sake of Duo getting here; doesn't that mean anything? I think you really care about Duo, therefore you care about what he thinks."

Heero glared dangerously at the blond, "Mind your own business."

Sally almost gave up on trying to convince the Wing pilot, but then decided to try again, "Heero, there are three phases to the healing process: the inflammation phase; the repair phase; and the remodeling phase. All injured tissue must go through these three phases in order to heal properly. If at the end of 6 to 8 weeks your knee pain symptoms persist, then you should revisit me so I can perform further tests. Heero, this is tissue, something that is more delicate to fix. You must let me look at you!"

Heero crossed his arms, looking away, "Let's wait until Duo is better first before you guys worry about me."

Quatre and Sally gave each other a knowing look. There must be something going on between Heero and Duo that they had over looked. Maybe the two were already together.

Just then, WuFei walked in with a stern look on his face.

"What's wrong, Wu?" Sally asked, giving him a coy smile.

"Woman…" WuFei warned, but then sighed, "Well, I just got the news that Duo will be good enough to leave tomorrow. But he still needs to rest and not do any missions for two to three weeks."

Quatre sighed in relief, "I'm so glad. Now that we know that Duo will be ok, maybe you could convince Heero here to have Sally look at him."

WuFei turned his head over to the motionless pilot, who was still not looking at them. "Maybe Heero would like to go see Duo again."

Heero turned his head instantly and locked eyes with the Chinese boy. WuFei saw that look on another man's face before, and he knew he had found a certain weakness in the perfect solider. He walked up to Heero slowly; their eyes were still locked.

"Would you like that, Yuy?" WuFei asked him.

"What?" Heero said, trying to sound like he wasn't paying any attention to their conversation.

"Would you like to go see Duo?" WuFei mentally smacked himself; he sounded like he was talking to a child. To WuFei's surprise, Heero didn't seem to realize it and he shook his head.

"I might disturb him." He said finally.

"Look, we all know that you like Maxwell. It's very obvious, at least as of late. He's happy that he has a Grandfather now, but he would be even happier if you were sitting at his side too. He likes you."

"How do you know?" Heero asked, glaring.

WuFei looked him straight in the eye, "Because a long time ago he told me his feelings. It was back when we had a mission together and we had to wait for the changing of the guards. We had nothing better to do, so we began to talk to one another. Well, he did most of the talking, but as time went on, I found myself opening up to him as well. Did you know that he's not as much of a baka that we think he is? He's actually very intelligent."

"Why are you telling me all of this, WuFei?"

"Because I figured you'd like to know. The main thing he started talking about was you. It was all `Heero did this,' and `Heero told me that,' and even `I think Heero hates me.'"

Heero stood up in shock, "Nani??"

"Yeah, didn't you know that?"

Heero held onto the shocked look on his face, trying to hide the pain that was searing through his leg. Very carefully, he started to hobble over to the elevator, determined to make it up to Duo's room.
