I started this fic about a month ago and just now finished it. I might make it in the same universe as my fic "Gifts from the heart" and start an arc with them as a married couple. The decision is undecided as of now, but may change in the near future.

They've been together for over a year and had never had a fight, until now. Duo was trudging back from his walk he took. Every time something angered him, he would go for his usual walk around the park. This was the first time he had to go on an anger walk because of Heero.

"That was stupid of me," Duo berated with himself. "Why did I egg on our fight? Because I'm curious to what would happen if we did get into one?" he shook his head, "This is silly. We shouldn't be fighting if we have no reason to. I'll apologize and we'll talk." He nodded, sure of himself. He knew that his boyfriend had a bit of a temper, but he also knew that Heero had the ability to calm himself in a short period of time, so he knew he was safe from any more yelling.

When he did enter the house, it seemed rather quiet. Duo raised an eyebrow at this, curious if maybe his partner decided to lock himself in their bedroom or bathroom. Duo looked around, trying to figure out where he might be, and wondered if he should even be looking for him or let him cool off first. He walked over to their closed bedroom door and heard clacking of keys. Yup, Heero was in there. Duo decided to stay out in the living room, and watch some TV.

About an hour later, Heero emerged from the bedroom. He had heard the front door open, but he didn't dare show his face to his koibito just yet. He had no idea why he had said the things he said to Duo. He loved him too much to want to ruin anything between them, but when he mentioned something about wondering if he trusted him enough, that really set him off. Of course he trusted the baka! He even trusted him back before they found out that they were in love with each other.

He saw Duo had planted himself in front of the television set and he had an empty can of beer in front of him, and a half full one in his hand. He was snickering at what the comedian was saying on the show he was watching.

"Duo?" Heero said, in a low and neutral tone. He didn't want to go into their fight again. Duo didn't seem to register at first, but then his eyes leered toward him as if he was saying, "What do YOU want?"

"I'm…" it was hard for Heero to say, since he'd never had to say it before.

"What?" Duo snapped. He winced at his own tone of voice, also not wishing to continue their fight.

"I'm sorry, all right?" Heero huffed. It was the best he could do.

"Hn." Duo turned his attention back to his comedy show.

"I mean it, Duo. I'm sorry and…" this was something else that he had never said, but he always felt it. "…And I l-love you. A lot. And I'm glad that you're a strong enough person to put up with me."

This got Duo's attention, and he shut the TV off to pay more attention to his boyfriend. Duo did not attempt to offer him a seat next to him, but Heero gradually inched closer to the couch, hoping that he would. Duo noticed this and gave him a crooked smile before he moved over. He let Heero sit down, but a few minutes ago, he probably wouldn't have. He might have ripped his head off.

"And I always thought that you were the one that had to put up with me." Duo half teased.

"No, I'm the foolish one. I'm sorry I upset you. Do you forgive me for being a big baka?"

Duo snickered, music to Heero's ears. "I suppose. But you're going to have to learn to trust me more from now on. I'm not stupid you know; I am very streetwise."

"Hai." Heero said, feeling the weight being lifted from his shoulders.

Duo smiled, and then suddenly remembered something, "I love you too, Heero. Let's not have a fight like that again, ne? Besides, I should apologize too. I did egg you on."

"You're brave anyways." Heero smirked, "You're the only one that has ever talked to me in that manner and lived."

"But that's because you love me." Duo grinned.

Heero moved closer, finally able to do something that he'd wanted to do ever since Duo stormed out of the house for his walk- he held him tightly. Duo nuzzled into the embrace, happy to be in Heero's arms again. They stayed like that for a while, staring at a blank TV screen.

"You want to go on a date tonight?" Heero asked, hoping that Duo was in a more cheerful mood now.

Duo felt as if he was going to either cry, giggle like a schoolgirl, or faint. He bounced a bit in Heero's arms, grin plastered on his face, "Yeah! That's so sweet of you, love!"

Heero placed a soft kiss on his koi's lips, "Let's get ready then, my beloved."

Duo chuckled, standing up with his boyfriend to make their way to the bedroom and their shared bathroom to freshen up.

During their date, Heero had slipped away from their dinner table, saying he had to go use the little boys' room. He was secretly buying something for Duo.

Heero came back before Duo became suspicious and they ate their dinner in silent bliss, staring at one another from across the table. They finished with their meal, left a big tip, and headed out for the door. Heero paid for the whole thing, and then took Duo by the hand and lead him out to their car.

"That was a wonderful dinner!" Duo sighed, "I should make you apologize to me like that more often."

"Hn. Yeah right. I don't want to get into another fight with you."

"Yeah, I know. But you have to admit, it was kind of exhilarating!"

"Baka." Heero smirked, opening the car door for Duo. Duo snickered, sliding into the passenger's side. The drive home was just as pleasant. Heero actually made conversation.

They made it home slower than usual, but Heero wanted to take the scenic route. He knew that Duo enjoyed the scenery of the grassy hills and the smell of freshly cut lawn. The wind whipping Duo's hair around was so exotic that Heero almost ran them off of the road.

Heero opened the door for his koibito, secretly hiding something in his back pocket. When they got to the front door, Heero realized that it was already unlocked. The first thing that popped into his mind was a burglar, but he stopped that thought short. He had the best alarm system ever, so it would have gone off. Whoever did open the door had a key to their place. That left only a few choices of whom it could be.

Cautiously, Heero eased the door open and went to reach for the light switch, but the lights were already on. The couple was greeted by two others…

"Ohayo, Heero… Duo!" the blonde man smiled.

"Ohayo." The other said, draping a possessive arm over the blond.

"Hey you two!" Duo chirped, incredibly happy to see his other two friends, "How have you guys been?"

"We're good." Trowa said, rubbing his hand over Quatre's arm.

"I'm glad to hear it." Duo smiled, "So what's the deal with sneaking into our house?"

"Um…" Quatre pretended to think, "We were testing your burglar alarm?"

"Yeah right." Duo snorted, "Anyways… you're lucky that you guys didn't pop in a couple hours ago."

"War zone?" Trowa inquired.

"Total world war 7 man!" Duo sighed, "But everything's fine now."

"I see." Quatre smirked, eyeing the broken dishes on the kitchen floor and the disheveled look to the main room. Duo sat down, as if he were finally taking in the damage that he mostly caused in his rage. He crossed his legs and steepled his arms on a knee, laying his chin on his hands.

"Great… I suppose I have to clean this all up?" he grumbled.

Heero placed a warm hand on his koibito's shoulder, "Iie, I'll help."

"Good. Otherwise you'd be sleeping on the couch." He looked up at Heero, eyes challenging but smile in place.

"Hn." Heero ogled right back at his partner, "It'll beat sleeping next to someone who snores."

"Ooo… gotcha good there, Duo." Quatre chuckled.

Duo folded his arms, "Hmph… I thought you said that my sleeping noises put you into a peaceful rest."

Heero sighed and leaned over to kiss his koi on the neck, "I did. It's just that sometimes you're ungodly loud and I have to poke you in the ribs to quiet you down."

"Sometimes I retaliate in my sleep." Duo warned.

"Um… is there gonna be another fight? If so, we can leave."

"Don't worry, Quatre, there isn't gonna be another fight. Duo promised me there wouldn't." before Duo could comment, Heero pulled him up out of his chair. Duo was about to protest when he caught a glimpse of something in Heero's hand.

"Koibito…" Duo was about to say something, but Heero shushed him with a quick kiss.

"Duo… I didn't expect an audience for what I'm about to do, but it seems like I don't have a choice." He lowered himself down onto one knee, holding onto Duo's left hand. Their eyes stayed glued to one another's. Duo's eyes were slowly filling with tears, but he forced himself to not shed one. Heero's eyes looked hopeful and determined.

"I couldn't have asked for a better partner… a best friend… a war comrade to watch my back… a koibito… a lover… You are the other half of my soul, to love and cherish, and tumble around under the bedsheets with… Duo Maxwell…" Heero slowly opened the velvet box that he held and presented the engagement ring, "Will you do me the honors and become my husband?"

All breath left Duo's body as he felt himself go pale. His eyes rolled into the back of his head as his lashes fluttered, and he collapsed to the floor.

"Duo!" Quatre cried. Heero knelt over the limp body of his koibito's and checked his pulse.

"He passed out." Heero shook his head. He carefully put one arm around the back of Duo's head and neck, even though there was no need for being cautious, and another one underneath his knees and lifted him up easily. He carried Duo over to their couch and laid him down gently.

Quatre went into the kitchen to fetch a cold compact and handed it to Heero. Trowa was watching the whole scene with concern but he knew that Duo will be ok, and that he will probably be more than ok when he woke up. Heero placed the cool compact onto his koi's forehead and then held his hand, waiting patiently for him to wake up.

"Maybe we should leave?" Trowa said, putting his hands on Quatre's shoulders.

"We should, but…" The blond sighed, "I want to see what happens next… I want to know what Duo says. I'm sure it'll be yes but… I still want to see his reaction and stuff. Is it alright, Trowa?"

Trowa bent down to kiss the nook between his lover's neck and shoulder, "It's up to Heero, koibito."

"Heero?" Quatre looked over at his friend.

"I don't mind." Heero said, not taking his eyes off of Duo.

"Let us know if you want to be alone with him." Quatre amended quickly.

"Hai. I will." Heero continued to watch his beloved, hoping that he would open his eyes soon. He brought Duo's hand up to his lips and pressed a small kiss to his knuckles. "Please wake up, my love."

About a minute later, Duo's eyes slowly cracked open. The first sight to greet him was his koibito's worried face, and his own hand held closely to his mouth as if he had been kissing it many times since he was out. Duo let out a long breath as he stirred, and then ogled Heero's facial expressions.

"Hee-koi?" Duo moaned.

"Yes, beloved?" Heero whispered.

"I had this really wonderful dream." Duo said, half groggily.

"Oh? What was it about?"

"You won't believe this… but in my dream you said the most romantic proposal to me, on your knees even, and you asked me to be your husband… it was so sweet…"

Heero chuckled lightly, "How did the dream end?"

Duo's face scrunched up, "I don't know… the dream ended when you asked me. I don't know what happened after that…"

"Hai, Heero?" Duo blinked.

"Think about it for a second, love."

Duo continued to stare up at Heero in bewilderment, "N-nani?" he murmured.

Heero held up the velvet box, which still contained the ring in it. "If that was all a dream, then how do you explain this?"

It all came rushing back to Duo, and his eyes widened in disbelief, "K-koibito??"

Heero leaned down and took Duo's lips gently with his, "It was no dream, my love… and I await your answer."

This time Duo let small tears run down his cheeks, "Oh Heero!!" he wrapped his arms tightly around Heero's neck and held him close. Heero kept his head pressed against Duo's strong chest, listening to his heart beating wildly and his breath quickening.

"So what is your answer, koi?" Heero said, kissing his neck and chin.

"Yes!! Oh God Almighty, YES!!"

"Domo arigato, Duo. You made me the happiest person in the whole known universe." He crushed his lips to Duo's, showing him without words just how happy he was.

"I think now is the best time to leave." Trowa whispered to his koi.

Quatre nodded, following his love out the door.

And that night, Heero and Duo consummated their love for one another.

"Husband to be?" Duo smiled, feeling worn out but sated.

"Do I have to wear a dress?"

There was silence for a while, and then Heero said,

"Only if you want to. But I know that you'd look stunning in one if you did."

"Ok." Duo smiled, dreaming up what color he should wear.
