Happy Birthday

The moon was shining cheerfully in the pitch-dark sky, the stars were winking playfully at the people living underneath them.

Duo was in his bedroom, laying on his bed, with only the lamp sitting on his bedside table to illuminate the darkness.

Tonight was not any ordinary chilly autumn night, it's his birthday.

His friends threw him a birthday party, which ended not very long ago, maybe only an hour ago or so.

Even though all his friends were there, and generally having a good time, he had never feel lonelier, simply because of the absence of his lover.

He understood that his lover needed the job to feed himself, of course he understood. But it didn't mean that he had to like it when his Japanese boyfriend got stuck on the night shift on his birthday.

Sighing deeply, the long-haired young man closed his eyes and slowly drifted off to the dream world.

Duo suddenly sat up on the bed. He's so sure that something was hitting his window. He casually glanced at the alarm clock on his bedside table.

It's five past midnight.

He drew the dark curtains back. He gasped at what... or rather who he saw outside of his window.

His smiling blue-eyed lover was sitting on a thick branch, which was on the tree just right in front of his window.

Duo quickly opened the window. "Heero!"

"Duo." The Japanese young man reached out to gently tuck a few strands of chestnut hair, which had escaped the long braid, behind his lover's ear. "Sorry I'm late."

Duo smiled faintly, shook his head. "I understand. I'm just glad that you're here."

Heero grabbed Duo's arm, changing the time on the wristwatch back to ten to midnight, then did the same to his own watch.

"Now, we have ten minutes that only belong to ourselves until 'midnight'. No one but us still live in November 30th."

The smile on the long-haired man's face grew wider.

Grinning slightly, Heero reached into his jacket pocket, taking out a black velvet jewelry box. "Happy birthday, love."

Duo looked at the box, not sure what to expect. The braided young man slowly opened the box, finding a very beautiful violet crystal cross with a silver chain lying inside.

"Wow... 'ro, I......" The American was totally speechless.

"Do you like it?"

Duo can simply nodded mutely.

Heero took the necklace, silently offering to put it on his lover's slender neck.

Duo just gathered his braid on the side, so that it would be easier for Heero to put it on.

"Thank you Hee-chan." Duo whispered softly, while his right hand unconsciously crept to grasp the cross.

"You're welcome love." Heero smiled tenderly as the two pairs of blue eyes met, "So, how do you want us to spent this..." he looked down on his watch, "oh... seven minutes of our own?"

Duo just simply stood on his toes so that he could reach his lover easier, then pressed his lips gently on Heero's.

The moon and stars above decided to hide behind the thick clouds, giving the young lovers a little privacy.

The pair continued to kiss tenderly, while the pure white snow started to silently dancing around them.
